CAS-Psychology Faculty Members Elevate Grief Management Training with DWSD-NCR

In an intensive effort to enhance the psychological support for grieving individuals, faculty-extensionists from the College of Arts and Sciences – Psychology Department of Rizal Technological University (RTU)  have actively participated in a pivotal training initiative in Morong, Bataan. Asst. Prof. Russelle Ane A. Dela Cruz and Asst. Prof. Marybeth C. Miranda, played crucial roles as Technical Experts in refining an ‘Assessment Tool and Grief Recovery Manual’.

This significant undertaking was spearheaded by the Department of Social Welfare and Development-National Capital Region (DSWD-NCR) in collaboration with the INA (Inang Naulila sa Anak) Healing Center. The primary objective of the initiative was to empower the Integrated Healing Center (IHC) Staff, Local Government Unit (LGU) Focal Persons, and representatives from partner non-governmental organizations (NGOs). The focus was on equipping them with the necessary skills to effectively manage cases of grieving mothers and bereaved family members.

The RTU faculty Members’ involvement was instrumental in the success of the rollout training for the Tagalog Healing and Grief Management program. They sought to elevate competencies and implement proper assessment and grief management approaches. By doing so, the organizers aimed to contribute to the improved emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual well-being of the clientele. The underlying philosophy emphasized the commitment of partnering organizations and mental health experts to provide compassionate care during times of grief.
